I've been wanting to watch this movie even before a week ago and my current "situation." Now that it has premiered at Sundance and is getting rave reviews from every site I visit (so far,) I'm even more excited to see this. It's just coincidental that I was heartbroken at the time this movie - which I predict to be one of my all-time-favorites - is premiering.

If you don't know, it's a movie about Tom (Joseph Gordon Levitt) and Summer (Zooey Deschanel) that begins with their breakup. From that point onward we see Tom as he reflects on the 500 days of his and Summer's "relationship", and all he can focus on are the good times. The movie doesn't follow a specific order, but instead jumps back and forth between the 500 days to different moments in their relationship; which I think is an amazing concept.

Here is the trailer, albeit with HORRIBLE voiceover work. Too bad Don Lafontaine passed away last year, leaving us with second rate hacks who can't find a voice of their own to use.

I mention this movie for a variety of reasons.

One: Because Levitt has long been on my list of actors to watch, and I believe this will be his year, what with this and GI Joe in the works I don't doubt he'll be propelled straight to the top. I should also take the time to mention something off topic regarding him, I've been thinking a lot about Heath recently, and for some reason I've come to the conclusion that if there was ever a movie about him then Levitt should be the one to take on the role. Already he might take Heath's since vacated spot in my top favorite current actor list.

The second is obviously what I mentioned earlier with my situation. It pretty much describes exactly how I have been feeling recently.

Three: As some people know, I've been wanting to work on a screenplay for a while, and in that process I've been searching for movies that are similar to mine that I can learn from. This one sounds like it does a good job on all levels and is something I'll want to keep an eye on, and hopefully it'll be a good example of what I want to portray in my own film someday.

Now I've gone and written too much about things that don't need to be said. Enjoy the trailer.
