I haven't had much to write about for a little while now, so I decided I'd comment on my relationship life. This is something I tend to NOT do; as I like to keep away from the personal stuff to avoid saying anything I might regret 10 years down the line...or two months from now depending on how things work out...regardless, I think it's ok since you can figure out a little bit more about me and my life.

Me and Andrea, though we're not technically going out at the moment, have been working on a relationship for over a year now. Please take note, that aside from close to a week, all of that relationship has been long distance. First it was between Texas and Virginia, and now it's between Texas and Iraq. If we're able to survive through this, then I think we can be capable of anything that comes our way...hopefully.

That said, I did stumble upon something today that can pretty much sum up our relationship (so far) better than anything else could. It's a scene from a movie that I'm sure you've all heard of:

Young Noah: It's not about following your heart and it's not about keeping your promises. It's about security.
Young Allie: What's that supposed to mean?
Young Noah: [yelling] Money. He's got a lot of money!
Young Allie: You smug bastard. I hate you for saying that.
Young Noah: You're bored Allie. You're bored and you know it. You wouldn't be here if there wasn't something missing.
Young Allie: You arrogant son of a bitch.
Young Noah: Would you just stay with me?
Young Allie: Stay with you? What for? Look at us, we're already fightin'
Young Noah: Well that's what we do, we fight... You tell me when I am being an arrogant son of a bitch and I tell you when you are a pain in the ass. Which you are, 99% of the time. I'm not afraid to hurt your feelings. You have like a 2 second rebound rate, then you're back doing the next pain-in-the-ass thing.
Young Allie: So what?
Young Noah: So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day. Will you do something for me, please? Just picture your life for me? 30 years from now, 40 years from now? What's it look like? If it's with him, go. Go! I lost you once, I think I can do it again. If I thought that's what you really wanted. But don't you take the easy way out.
Young Allie: What easy way? There is no easy way, no matter what I do, somebody gets hurt.
Young Noah: Would you stop thinking about what everyone wants? Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do YOU want? What do you WANT?
Young Allie: It's not that simple.
Young Noah: What... do... you... want? Whaddaya want?
Young Allie: I have to go now.

I'm quite sure that this movie relates to everyone's relationships in one way or another, but believe me when I tell you that it's eerie how it relates to mine.

Regardless of the stress that we've had to endure, we do have our good moments, and if it wasn't for the distance I'd be convinced that those would outnumber the arguments a good 100/1, but I guess we can't be too sure until we're there.

One thing I did want to comment about was a short phone call I had with her this morning when I woke up. For whatever reason, she seemed like she was in a good mood, though I asked if she was mad at me anyway. She said "no sweetheart..." and the way she said it just made me smile.

I can't explain it, I just love the way she talks to me sometimes, and if I wasn't so afraid of losing her then it would've been enough to prove to me that I matter to her.

PS - though the title has nothing to do with the subject matter, it doesn't make it any less true.
